On Saturday I jumped on a train and headed to Birmingham to have Christmas lunch with some of my dearest friends. As we don’t tend to get together that often we planned on having a long, late lunch before heading to the German market that is held in the heart of the city.
For our annual Christmas get together we picked Jamie’s Italian and we were not disappointed.
We started with a glass of Jamie’s Prosecco which was the perfect start to the celebration. For starters we shared meat and fish plank as well as crispy stuffed risotto balls. The meat plank featured a selection of cured meats, italian cheeses, pickles and a crunchy salad. On the fish plank we had a selection of cured & crispy fish as well as more italian cheeses, pickles and salad. All were delicious and personally I think there is nothing better than being able to share food.
For mains, myself and my friend decided to share two mains as we were both too indecisive to pick just one! We shared the wild rabbit tagliolini and the sausage pappardelle as well as the humble green salad. Everything was delicious and just the perfect amount. I didn’t manage to get a picture of the wild rabbit as it was speedily gobbled up!
Our waiter, Lewis was fantastic, very knowledgeable and friendly. He kept the drinks flowing and was fully informed on everything on the menu! It didn’t hurt that he was rather dishy!!
Finally we finished with a cocktail – I went for the Florence Fizz which consists of limoncello, pomegranate juice, elderflower cordial all topped up with prosecco. So delicious!
A great celebration with very dear friends!
