Having seen the Tim Walker exhibition advertised and knowing some of his work I was keen to check out this collection. With the life-size props and truly inspiring imagery it was a great way to spend an afternoon.
Tim Walker is renowned as being one of the most creative and influential fashion photographers; having created campaigns for the world’s leading magazines such as British, French, American and Italian Vogue, Vanity Fair, W and The New Yorker among many others.
Everything in Walker’s pictures is specially constructed and in a glimpse behind the mechanics, there are installations and a selection of the extraordinary props and models on show: giant grotesque dolls for Italian Vogue and an almost life-size replica of a doomed Spitfire fighter plane.
Afterwards I headed over to the Valentino: Master of Couture exhibition which showcases over 130 exquisite haute couture designs as well as celebrating the life and work of the man himself.
With three sections that feature personal photos from Valentino, a catwalk featuring the 130 outfits and finally details of how the garments are created this is a fantastic opportunity to see behind the scenes of one of the most famous Italian couture brands.
